A Website for Your Minecraft Server: Donations, Auto-Delivery and Cost

A website exists for exactly one thing: so a player can pay and receive their purchase without you getting involved. Everything else is a nice extra. Here is how it works technically, what it costs and what breaks most often.

How auto-delivery works

The scheme is the same almost everywhere:

  1. The player picks an item on the site and pays.
  2. The payment system calls a callback URL on your site and confirms the payment.
  3. The site puts the purchase in a queue: "give player Name this command".
  4. The server picks up the queue and runs the command, via RCON, a connector plugin or a check on join.
  5. The player sees the delivery in game, and the site marks the order as completed.

The key detail is what happens when the player is offline. The correct behavior is that the purchase waits in the queue and is delivered on their next login. If your system can only deliver to online players, you will get a stream of "I paid and got nothing" tickets.

Accepting donations and delivering purchases

Three ways to build the site

Do not count the price of the site, count the cost of ownership over a year. A percentage of every purchase almost always ends up costing more than a one-time purchase of a ready-made site.

What the storefront needs

  1. A clear list of perks for every rank, not just its name. People should see what they are paying for.
  2. A ladder of several tiers. One item at 500 earns less than three items at 300, 800 and 2000.
  3. One-time items: crates, currency, kits. The second-biggest source of revenue.
  4. Payment by card and SBP bank transfer. Wallets and crypto as an add-on, not the foundation.
  5. Online player monitoring on the home page: a live server convinces better than text.
  6. Rules and contacts remove half of your support questions.
  7. An admin panel where prices change without a programmer.

And a mobile layout. More than half of players come from a phone: if the storefront falls apart, there will be no purchase.

Accepting payments legally

Selling ranks is a digital service, and you can do it legally: self-employed status or a sole proprietorship, a contract with a payment service, and a receipt for the buyer. That removes the risk of a blocked card and lets you grow without the stress.

Taking payments to a personal card works until the first complaint and the first big volume. Every project that grew had already moved to proper payment processing by that point.

What breaks most often

SymptomUsual cause
Payment went through, nothing deliveredthe server is not picking up the queue, or the player was offline
Delivery is duplicatedthe callback arrives twice and there is no replay protection
A purchase is "stuck"the payment provider could not reach the site - check the URL and certificate
Does not open on a phoneno responsive layout or heavy images
The site is down, the server is upthe site and the server are on different hosts - that is how it should be, but you have to monitor both
